Title: Director of Festivals

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Director of Festivals who will lead an area that is absolutely central to our mission. Life is good Festivals bring communities together to feel good and to do good. The funds raised from festivals are managed through the Life is good Kids Foundation. This non-profit foundation then donates every penny received to extraordinary charities helping children who face unfair challenges.

Our unique festivals are currently held nationwide. We have ambitious plans for the continued expansion of Life is good Festivals, including the launch of international events. We see the opportunity to multiply smiles globally through festivals that best reflect what we are about, and in so doing, provide increasing levels of support to our targeted kids' beneficiaries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a scalable, replicable model for producing consistent, high-quality events for national and international festival partners.
  • Introduce innovative fund-raising strategies which will enable us to raise significant funds for the Life is good Kids Foundation.
  • Create strategic plans for the expansion of Life is good Festivals nationally and internationally.
  • Build a strong network of strategic relationships with business partners, festival sponsors, and charitable beneficiaries.
  • Secure significant new national festival sponsors and partners.
  • Lead the Festivals Team in staffing, budgeting, goal-setting, managing performance, executing major festivals, and measuring results.
  • Continuously energize the entire Life is good employee base to embrace and dedicate themselves to our festivals.
  • Identify and implement festival improvements, including new and improved fundraising strategies, cost-savings, and brand-strengthening event designs.
  • Work effectively with senior leadership team and reach timely decisions on all aspects of festival strategy and execution.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to carefully craft all festival-related messaging in every aspect of the business to continually strengthen the public image of Life is good Festivals.

Experience and qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in fundraising and managing major events
  • Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making skills
  • Impeccable public speaking skills with the ability to inspire our festival partners as well as the hundreds of volunteers that we rely on to deliver fantastic festivals.
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership strengths, including setting a strong vision, building and motivating an extended team, maintaining high energy and confidence, and driving to results
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, deadline-driven projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Innovative mindset that habitually seeks to identify new opportunities and improvements
  • Ability to travel (est 10% of time) to festivals and visit with sponsors

Title: Technical Designer - Hudson, NH

Department: Quality

Reports to: Senior Technical Designer

Job Summary:

The successful Technical Designer is responsible for the fit and construction of a segment of The Life is good Company product. Candidate will have good working knowledge of garment specifications, fit (base and graded sizes), construction, patternmaking, stitching standards, fabrics, trims and accessories. Additionally, candidate will have good understanding of development calendars and key development milestones, and will be responsible for meeting key deadlines. Assists in other areas as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Senior Technical Designer to interpret LIG fit and construction standards for products designed and developed by the Design and Product Development Teams.
  • Build and issue accurate, detailed development and graded specs utilizing designer's initial flat sketch, hand-off sheet, reference samples and submitted prototypes to approve styles for production with the fewest samples possible.
  • Measure and evaluate samples for measurement, fit, construction and quality standards.
  • Prepare evaluations, packets and samples for organized fit sessions.
  • Clearly communicate sample and fit review findings to vendors; including diagram/photographing pattern corrections and revisions to factory.
  • Track seasonal development by recording all phases of development by style throughout the development season.
  • Work with senior technical designer to keep library of all samples in order.
  • Transports samples between facilities.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years in apparel technical design.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of patternmaking, grading, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.
  • Strong understanding of technical terminology, machinery and computer design programs.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to vendors, manufacturers, and internally.
  • Ability to properly measure garments according to LIG How to Measure Guidelines.
  • Ability to organize work, manage time and schedule projects to meet designated deadlines and development calendars.
  • Proficient use of Excel, Word, Outlook and Illustrator.
  • Bachelors Degree in Apparel Design or equivalent experience.

Sitting for extended periods of time, verbal and written communications with customers and coworkers, key boarding, data entry, filing are continuous activities. Lifting product and samples up to 50 lbs. is a frequent activity.
